This week’s speaker was Dr. Theotis Robinson, Jr. Dr. Robinson was the first African American undergraduate student admitted to the University of Tennessee in 1961. Eight years later, he made history again as the first African American elected to the Knoxville City Council in over fifty (50) years. He also served as the vice president of economic development for the 1982 World’s Fair.

Dr. Robinson spoke about the economic impact regarding diversity, equity and inclusion in local events. Specifically, he spoke about the impact of minorities attending said events. The Rotary Club of Knoxville wishes Dr. Robinson continued success in his journey.
